The History of Haygood Realty, Inc.

James R. Haygood, Jr. for whom Haygood Realty, Inc. is named, began buying property to expand his business in the South.  Everyone agrees:  He should have been in real estate all along!

In 1991, he sold the business and began concentrating on real estate investment and management through Haygood Group Inc. and its affiliate, Haygood & Maxwell.

His daughter Valerie Haygood Thompson joined the firm in 1994.  Mr. Haygood passed away in 1995 and two years later on November 10, 1997, Valerie renamed the firm Haygood Realty, Inc. as Principal Broker.

Julie Thompson Dunavant, James R. Haygood’s granddaughter, joined her mother at Haygood Realty, Inc. in 2001, and his grandson James R. Haygood IV (Jimmy) joined in 2005.  With the addition of Jimmy, Haygood Realty, Inc. began its strategic growth in the residential real estate market and joined The Memphis Area Association of Realtors (MAAR).

Today Haygood Realty, Inc. has a new home office, 670 Colonial ~ Suite 1, a new logo, and a bright future as an established member of  the Memphis real estate community.
